Red Raven Equine provides riding lessons and horse training services, focusing on young and beginning riders pursuing English pleasure and equitation, dressage, and eventing. We are based out of a private facility in Lake Stevens, Washington.
Red Raven Equine is owned and operated by Britt Nelson. Britt has spent the last 16 years training with top level eventing and dressage trainers and keeps her equestrian education as one of her top priorities. During the 10 years she spent at Blackwood Farms, Britt studied closely under four-star eventer and Olympic short-listed rider Melissa Beardsley. During this time she was fortunate enough to learn from several other world class riders, including John Camlin, Derek DiGrazia, and Kimberly von Hopffgarten. Britt continues to take weekly lessons from USDF Gold Medalist Debbie DeWitt to improve her dressage skills and pursue her competitive goals.
Britt is an active member of the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), and she has authored articles published by the American Riding Instructors Association. Britt has also completed Team USA’s SafeSport Training course. SafeSport is an educational course provided by Team USA to help educate coaches on the nature of misconduct and abuse in sport, and to enable those involved in athletics to properly prevent, acknowledge, and report abuse and misconduct.
Britt is passionate about teaching both her 2 and 4-legged students in a kind, thoughtful, and intelligent way. Each lesson or training ride is carefully executed and tailored to the individual rider or horse. She excels at and particularly enjoys teaching children with learning disabilities such as ADD or dyslexia.
